Utaite

Utaite (歌い手) are singers (often amateurs) who cover previously released songs and publish their versions online. The term “utaite” originated on the Japanese video sharing platform Nico Nico Douga, where users post their covers in the Utattemita (“I tried to sing”) category. Utaite commonly focus on anime, video-game and original Vocaloid songs.
