Najpierw minie nasza miłość,

Potem sto i dwieście lat,

Potem znów będziemy razem:

Komediantka i komediant,

Ulubieńcy publiczności,

Odegrają nas w teatrze.

Mała farsa z kupletami,

Trochę tańca, dużo śmiechu,

Trafny rys obyczajowy

I oklaski.

Będziesz śmieszny nieodparcie

Na tej scenie, z tą zazdrością,

W tym krawacie.

Moja głowa zawrócona,

Moje serce i korona,

Głupie serce pękające

I korona spadająca.

Będziemy się spotykali,

Rozstawali, śmiech na sali,

Siedem rzek, siedem gór

Między sobą obmyślali.

I jakby nam było mało

Rzeczywistych klęsk i cierpień

– dobijemy się słowami.

A potem się pokłonimy

I to będzie farsy kres.

Spektatorzy pójdą spać

Ubawiwszy się do łez.

Oni będą ślicznie żyli,

Oni miłość obłaskawią,

Tygrys będzie jadł z ich ręki.

A my wiecznie jacyś tacy,

A my w czapkach z dzwoneczkami,

W ich dzwonienie barbarzyńsko

Zasłuchani.

First our love will pass,

Then one and then two hundred years,

Then we will be together once again:

Comedienne1 and comedian,

Favourites of the audience,

They will reenact us in the theatre.

Couplets of a small farce2,

A bit of a dance, a lot of laughter,

An apt slice of life

And applause.

You will be irresistibly funny

In that scene3, with that envy,

In this tie.

My head turned back,

My heart and crown,

A silly breaking heart,

And a falling crown.

We will meet,

We will break up, laughter in the room4,

Once upon a time5

They thought amongst themselves.

And as if we didn't have enough of

Real disasters and suffering

– We ended our suffering with words.

And then we bow

And that'll be the end of the farce.

The spectators will go to sleep

Having amused themselves to tears.

They will live beautifully,

They will tame love,

The tiger will eat from their hands,

And we are eternally like that,

And we are in caps with bells,

In their barborous ringing

Listening.
