I like translations. It might be like taking a shower with a raincoat on, but I do my best to make that raincoat as thin as possible.
I believe the best translator is the one who can reproduce the song the way the author would have made it in the target language from the start. Keeping not just the meaning, but the spirit and the rhythm as well. I adapt the text, but through a sourcist (French: sourcier, antonym cibliste) lense.
Here is how I see it: the best translations are those where you see the text, and the target litteral language version loses some of the meaning, and almost all of the spirit and music, and it looks like an unchangeable truth. Then, the good translator comes in, and slightly changes things here and there, and finding the good words. Then, after he leaves, the text looks unchanged, but suddenly, it's full of magic, the magic behind the original version. And it looks as if it was here from the start, the words seem obvious. As if it had never been translated, as if the translated version was but an original that had been there the whole time. That is the ideal I aim for.

J'aime traduire. Peut-être que c'est comme de prendre une douche en k-way, mais je fais en sorte que le vêtement soit le plus fin et même troué que possible. Et j'utilise abondamment les notes de bas de page pour expliciter le vocabulaire et rendre justice à l'original.
En veillant à trahir le texte le moins possible, j'essaie généralement de reproduire quelque chose de poétique et de rimé. C'est plus ou moins réussi selon le cas. Je me débrouille généralement mieux vers l'anglais, mais vers le français, je mettrais en avant mes traductions de Little Dark Age (j'ai ajouté une analyse en bas) et When the rain came, probablement. Si vous aimez mon style, n'hésitez pas à me demander des traductions (depuis anglais, espagnol, chinois, peut-être italien ou allemand, et je peux aussi faire français --> anglais, c'est d'ailleurs ce que je préfère, car la concision de l'anglais et la plus grande liberté de sa syntaxe donne plus de marge de manoeuvre).
