?Linguistics & Middle Eastern Studies BA student.
I love Balkan pop-folk and traditional music. ≈90% of the Serbian, Bulgarian, Macedonian and Bosnian songs that I translate here are the songs I loved and decided to share with the world. ?
Learning languages is my great passion. I don't strive to achieve a certain goal or to study a certain amount of languages, I do it for my own enjoyment, for the sake of studying cultures and to be able to communicate with people all around the world. I'm especially interested in the world of Middle East, the Balkan and the religion of Islam. Therefore, most of the languages I have ever studied, study now or, God willing, will study, come from these regions or cultural backgrounds. I also love Slavic languages, especially the Southern ones, and want to study "New" Old Prussian once (a revived formerly extinct Baltic language).
Hope you enjoy my translations.
• I'm a native Russian speaker.
• I speak Hebrew fluently. I can still make mistakes, though, so feel free to correct me anytime.
•I speak English on a relatively solid level, but still have much to learn. Any help regarding my translations (proofreading, corrections of mistakes) will be much appreciated, do not hesitate to contact me in this regard. ?
• I know Serbo-Croatian to some extent. Can't say I speak it too well, but I'm able to understand it and communicate in it on a basic level.
• Read and know some easy words in Arabic, German, and Albanian .
• Can build very simple sentences in Turkish.
• Somewhat somewhere sometimes can speak Yiddish.
• I understand Ukrainian from books, articles, and some television programmes. I can also write in it and speak it a bit. I translate songs to this language only when I'm certain in my knowledge of all the necessary words.
Can do IPA phonemic (and phonetic, but do you really want to see the allophones?) transliterations for Hebrew. ?? Possibly for other languages, too, if I take some time to research their phonetic systems.
Feel free to ask me about a translation from one of these languages. My preferable languages to translate to are English, Russian and Hebrew, but I can also translate to Serbian, Bosnian and Ukrainian. If I'll make my brain work and beat my procrastination, I'll help you gladly!??
Камень, отвергнутый строителями, стал во главу угла.
И со всех сторон света безжалостный рок
Ставит нам мириады преград.
Но шпионы, враги, кандалы и острог
Повернуть нас не смогут назад.
