Elefant
Elephant
It's you who taught me to dream without the need for sleep
To step into darkness without the need for fear
To ride a bicycle without the need of my hands
Even when I thought that I couldn't
You showed me that life isn't black-and-white
That there isn't only right and wrong
And that I'm not alone
It's because of you that I know what love is
You sat with me in my fortress
Built from blankets
With the book about the elephant
And a glass of cocoa
And when this world becomes too big for me to handle
And it all starts to well up inside me
Life can be so stupid
That's when I think back to that time
And when I start to question myself
And it all starts to well up inside me
I dream of being sat on your lap,
With that blue elephant
Thanks to you I have the courage to question the world around me
And to speak my mind
On grey, rainy days,
I can make myself a paper ship
Through you I learned to believe in tomorrow
To trust in myself
Not to run away when I'm scared
It's because of you that I know what love is
You sat with me in my fortress
Built from blankets
With the book about the elephant
And a glass of cocoa
And when this world becomes too big for me to handle
And it all starts to well up inside me
Life can be so stupid
That's when I think back to that time
And when I start to question myself
And it all starts to well up inside me
I dream of being sat on your lap,
With that blue elephant

Hi, this is my attempt at translating this for you. :)
It's a very lovely song. It seems to be about reminiscing about all the things our parents teach us, and the special memories we hold of them (e.g. sitting in a blanket fort with cocoa, being told the story of a blue elephant).
I have taken some liberties with the way I've translated certain parts of the song, but I believe I've maintained the meaning throughout.
