Wczoraj nad Majdankiem leciały dwa bociany...
Serce mi drgnęło w piersi na widok jakże znany...
Leciały całkiem nisko, widziałam je wyraźnie,
Na skrzydłach w dal uniosły stęsknioną wyobraźnię...
Chaty - słomiane strzechy, studnie żurawiane,
Podwórka zamiecione, piaskiem wysypane,
Biała ściana nasturcją barwną obrośnięta...
W ogródkach kwitną kwiaty... pachnie ruta, mięta...
Tu przydrożna kapliczka, tam krzyż promienisty,
Zapatrzony w niebiosa cichy, uroczysty,
A na gnieździe klekocą poważnie bociany,
A może właśnie patrzy na nie ktoś... kochany?
Storks
Two storks were flying over Majdanek yesterday...
My heart skipped at the familiar sight...
They were flying quite low, I could see them clearly
On their wings, they carried the longing imagination into the distance...
Huts - straw thatches, well - cranes,
Yards; swept and covered with sand,
A white wall overgrown with colorful nasturtiums...
Flowers bloom in the gardens... it smells like rue, mint...
Here is a roadside shrine, there is a radiant cross,
Quietly gazing at the heavens, festive,
And in the nest storks clatter in seriousness,
And maybe someone is looking at them right now... someone dear?
