Schock

Schock

My life could not be any better
And suddenly you run into my knife
You say that I lack courage in life
I think my life wouldn't be good for you

You say that you'll be punished for my cowardice
And whoever comes too late will remain enslaved in freedom
It's all about sex, power and money
Aren't we all terrible for the world?

Shock, shock my system
Shock, shock my system
Shock, shock my system
Shock, shock my system

You believe that I like to weigh myself in safety
What do you fantasize about fairness?
You believe you're going to break my stupidity
(You) say that we're all too fat, rich, corrupt

Have you long forgotten who you trust?
(You) say that you're just bringing a gun home
Fuck Che Guevara and the revolution*
That really sounds nice, but we've already had that

Shock, shock my system
Shock, shock my system
Shock, shock my system
Shock, shock my system

You say that you know it won't be easy
(You) don't know if your power is enough
If (you want) to walk this path alone
It's up to you
If you want to be faithful
And not give up when you fall
To stand against the rest of the world

Shock, shock my system
Shock, shock my system
Shock, shock my system
Shock, shock my system

You say that you know it won't be easy
(You) don't know if your power is enough
If (you want) to walk this path alone
It's up to you
If you want to be faithful
And not give up when you fall
To stand against the rest of the world

Having looked into it, "Che Guevara" seems to be a person. An actor, in fact, though I couldn't tell you if he's Mexican or Spanish. But "Fuck that guy and fuck revolution" doesn't really make sense, so you might be right in assuming the original listener misheard part of the lyrics.

Yes he does seem to be a person, in fact, he looks familiar to me. "Fuck che guevara and the revolution" does make sense however, it's an insolent remark, an obvious dissent from the person's views. A little strange how they took the English alternative, fuck, though. I never hear Eisbrecher use English words. Thank you for bringing this up to me! The lyrics have been corrected.

I read something about younger Germans using English words in their vocabulary for... oh, who the hell knows? But der Kapitän is nothing if not classy.

Having said that, I THINK I've heard him sing in English. "Gothkiller," I think it was called. And to be honest, I couldn't say it was great and look you in the eye. The type of music performed by the likes of Eisbrecher and Rammstein mixes very poorly with the English language.

Yeah, disappointingly a lot of English is fusing into European languages. But, I guess it was only a matter of time ever since we'd stolen all of our words from a jam-packed cocktail of languages. And I don't fully agree, thanks for reminding me about Gothkiller, the song was alright, definitely not up to the standards of other Eisbrecher songs. As far as Rammstein goes (I wish Till Lindemann would do a guttural R roll instead of a lingual R roll but beside the point), the only songs with some English that come to mind are Stirb Nicht Vor Mir, Pussy and Amerika. Apart from the third one, definitely true that they are not nearly as good.

I might be a bit biased, but I think English as the language of business is one thing. But seeing English words or phrases in otherwise foreign lyrics is a seperate one. It just seems like English is becoming too... maybe not "mainstream," but something like it.

There was also Stripped. And they did some covers of Du Hast, Engel, and Amerika that were rather awkwardly phrased.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Che_Guevara

"Ernesto "Che" Guevara, commonly known as el Che or simply Che, was an Argentine Marxist revolutionary, physician, author, guerrilla leader, diplomat, and military theorist."

Not an actor. It makes perfect sense. And the lyrics are correct to the little booklet that comes with the CD.

Thank you for the clarification. Upon looking Che Guevara up earlier, I did recognize that he was not an actor, simply a misunderstanding by the previous user.
