¹In Finnish the pronoun 'you' or 'sä' is mentioned only once. This is because Finnish verbs have suffixes for each person and in 1st and 2nd person, a pronoun is not required. Therefore 'jäit' translates as 'you stayed' as does 'sä jäit' (or 'jäit sä', as word order in Finnish is rather free, especially in poetry and song lyrics).
²The verb 'valvoa' means 'to stay up'. The singer decides to "stay 'staying up'". The first stay is omitted in translation.
