Warrior of the Mind
Anteckningar
Have you forgotten the lessons I taught you?: Athena has been Odysseus' mentor for a long while; this she will reveal further in the song, while narrating their first encounter.
Have you forgotten to turn off your heart? This is...: "Warrior of the Mind" is the final song in the saga, and takes place after its other two key moments, which are narrated through "The Horse and the Infant", "Just a Man", and "Open Arms". At first, Odysseus finds himself having to kill a child - son of Prince Hector, Astyanax. He does so without fail, though is undeniably plagued by his own guilt, as seen in "Just a Man". Later on, having gone ashore on the island of the Lotus Eaters with Polites by his side, he is convinced by the latter not to show violence, and instead to "greet the world with open arms", trusting the locals to guide them towards a source of food. Both incidents betray a certain softness to Odysseus, which is evidently met with Athena's disapproval.
Let me remind you: This phrase signifies the beginning of the aforementioned narrative.
Goddess of wisdom, Master of war: Both are titles commonly attributed to Athena herself.
A magic boar only the best could kill One day a ...: This might be a reference to the Calydonian boar hunt. It's curious how Odysseus' father is the one mentioned as one of the hunters, whereas there is nothing said about Odysseus himself. Further, the only fact connecting the boar to Athena is that of its hide's being located in the goddess' temple; as for possession, the boar was said to have been sent by Artemis.
