My main interest is foreign languages, either learning or reading them. I studied French starting in 8th grade and took classes all through high school and college and have studied abroad in France during college! I also studied Italian in college and am currently teaching myself Russian. I also love to read and watch movies and listen to music!

One of my greatest passions in life is foreign languages. Almost any new person I meet finds that out immediately about me when I accidentally slip in a French word into an otherwise English conversation or when I stumble on finding an English equivalent of a French word that comes to mind instead. The happy dilemma of being bilingual!

I began taking French in middle school and I have never looked back. I took French all the way through high school and even when I didn't know a lot of French, I would translate French music I discovered on the Internet. As a way of sharing my then-new love of French music, I would translate French songs to show to my friends and family and I knew then that I wanted to be a translator. I liked being a bridge for other people to discover new cultures, and that has stayed with me ever since high school. I took French all the way through into college and even had the opportunity to study abroad in France for three months. Since then I have been back once, which was last summer with my husband, and I enjoyed it even more by having someone I love to share it with.

In addition to taking French classes for my degree, I took Italian language classes and it made me proficient in another language. When I'm not teaching foreign languages to elementary school students, my current job, I am teaching myself Russian and I aspire to be a full-time freelance translator.
