Daniel
Oh ! Oh !
On s'appellera demain, tu veux ?
Daniel
Daniel is standing there on the station platform
People are passing by, the train is about to leave
We stand there without saying a word
Oh! Oh!
We'd promised each other we wouldn't cry
God, I love you so much!
But the smoke gets in my eyes
The train moves a little
We are so unhappy
I'd like to step off this train
Or instead to take you with me
to the sun
Oh! Oh!
We'll call each other tomorrow, if you like?
God, I love you so much!
But the smoke gets in my eyes
You know, I'll be good
You know, three days, it's not so long, you'll see
And monday morning, you'll be there
At the beach
Held in my arms
Tightly against me
Daniel is no longer on the station platform
I've closed my eyes
So as to not see Dany bid me farewell 1
Oh! Oh!
I'd promised not to cry
God, I love you so much!
But the smoke gets in my eyes
God, I love you so much!
But the smoke gets in my eyes
- 1. "Adieu" is rather stronger that goodbye - it really means "Goodbye forever"

Give a shoutout to Gavin

Yes - I thought maybe it's that she's in denial, about the tears, about it only being a temporary separation...
Perhaps she knows that it's a young, intense and fleeting love and in her heart of hearts knows they won't be seeing each other again. Could just be my pessimistic worldview of course. ;)
Yes, that's probably more likely... Ah young love! Give her a few years and she'll be glad of a weekend off! ;)
Buhhh :P
I think it is overinterpreted: it's only a question of rhyme: --> yeux-adieu
Oh I just got home and listened to it. I didn't realise this was an interpretation of the Elton John song :)
