Perfume collecting/connoisseurship. Video games. Old Hollywood/classic cinema. Corsetry. History of fashion. Photography. Poetry. Apart from that —
Music made by people who no longer make music. Vintagies, one hit wonders, the rarer the better. More song-oriented than artist-oriented. My favorite French lyricists are Serge Gainsbourg and Laurent Voulzy.
Su di me
I'm in the process of getting a bachelor's degree in languages, with English (including old and middle English) and French being the subjects I take a course on. During my freshman year I was taking a Latin course as well. Everything else I practice of my own volition.
I speak American English which might be reflected in my translations to some extent. My native language remains incognito as I hardly ever use it anymore.
I believe that translating as a hobby is a great way not to fall out of love with a language you're compelled to speak and a means to conserve one's love of languages — the joy and purity of it.
