Til hennar

Ég sendi þér í litlu ljóði
ljúfust orða minna
skáldið auma skreytir sig
skugga vængja þinna

Sumrin liðu ljósum hraðar
lýstu stjörnur vetur
aldrei hafa áður tvö
elskast lengur betur

Sú skamma stund er æskan okkur entist
var sem draumur
í tilhlökkun ég tæpast sá
hvað tíminn var naumur

To Her

I’m sending you my moving words
In a little poem
The miserable poet adorns himself
With the shadow of your wings

Summers went faster than the light
The stars illuminated Winter
Never before have two people
Been so much in love together

The short time our youth lasted
Was like a dream
Blinded by my waiting, I could barely see
How short time was

I'd like to thank my Icelandic teacher Bjarni, who helped me with the second verse, which I could almost understand, but wasn't sure of the meaning (these Icelandic structures you know...).

Hi, thanks a lot. Well that's funny, because I'm in Reykjavík right now, and yesterday I just met Jófríður Ákadóttir, singer of Samaris, in a bar. I'm gonna see what I can do with this, and if I fail I can try to make it listened by an Icelander :)
As I know you know faroese, could you read my translation of Vøka by Eivør Pálsdóttir please? I'm a beginner in faroese, and so I'm not sure of my translation...
Takk fyrir!

lol omg, you met one of the Samaris group, that's amazing! being in Iceland in itself is amazing :)
I'd love to see what you can do with these transcriptions.
I could take a look at your Faroese work, but just know that I have never actually learned Faroese. I can understand some Icelandic and Faroese due to my Norwegian studies, which is the only one of the Scandinavian languages (mainland and insular) I actually study.

If you let me some time (because I'm currently studying in Iceland), I can try to make a transcription yes.
So we are a bit alike about faroese, I use my Icelandic and Swedish studies to help me.
