**自分でも "myself, but", it's really awkward to talk about yourself or what you're good at in Japanese. The fact they bring up wanting to be praised and complimented, even though it's "myself", is kinda powerful.
**狂った歯車 is literally "a mad/loose/broken cog wheel". It means more like "it's all fallen apart"
**嫌い "hate" in English, this comes later in the sentence, but as the first word in Japanese, it's another powerful hit. The song actually holds it, the sentence sounds more like "I HATE~unable to get used to that." It makes that chorus hit hard. Also, it's another sort of taboo word. I only use it if I *really* hate something, otherwise a "not like" is strong enough for opinions. It does the same later with
**綺麗 "clean", during the bridge. This shares the meaning of "pretty". The song sets you up in JP before finishing the idea. "PRETTY (is what you thought, but I want it CLEANLY wiped away!), which is like ouch...
** 人肌恋しい, literally "human skin heat, will be missed", the warmth of another
**訪れない, in Japanese gives an inflection of things changing, in terms of seasons. If I just say "believed it wouldn't change", loses that. This is also bookend by seasonal themes.
Wow! What an insanely beautiful song. There's a lot to lose in translation, unfortunately, but you can hear it in the voice. The frustration, the intensity building. Honestly, as I translate the album, it usually plays on as I write and do other stuff, and every time it moved into this song and he hit that chorus, mm, goosebumps, could not wait to get to it.
