Moritat

Deadly Deed

Come, see, and be amazed!

Here you will be made known with clarity to the vague notions, the fairy tales, and the bitter grief and misery of man at play.

It laughs and jeers at you, and the meaning of life simply wipes you out.

Hearken to the somber truth of emotion, thoughts, and speech.1

Over the cause, the effect, and the simple demonstrations of man's grand delusion in all its glory.

Excrement, phlegm, and streaks of blood no longer aroused by the wind, for the scent thereof2is still pleasant in the heart3of its breath.

Behold! The festered streets of the world4which has not lost sight towards its end among the chaos.

And at the conclusion of this play5 lie my charred remains which someone will contemplate upon one day. So please, oh please, come right in!6

It laughs and mocks at you -> "and" sounds strange since "laugh at" and "mock" do not have the same construction. Maybe "it laughs and jeers at you" ?

I like that! I'll go ahead and change it.

das Wort -> maybe "the Word" (in a religious sense) or "speech" ?

Yeah, that was actually my first impression as well (the religious sense). The lyrics overall doesn't seem to have any religious connotations, so that's why I went ahead and chose the more freely "voice" instead. BUT! I like 'speech' though. That makes more sense, imho. I'll go ahead 'n make the change. Thanks, kuroi! :)

p.s. what the heck happened to my avatar? It's still blank, and it's been hours since I modified it. :(

Ah, so that's where it comes from :glasses:
I have to admit, I was never a big fan of...I dunno if 'anime' is the right word to call such shows, but anywho.. _those_ kinda shows. The one in the link looks interesting enough to check out -- like the entire series! :D And I'll have to promote this to my French-speaking friends.

After that last comment, I was scrounging thru some of my old translations, and I came upon this one here: https://lyricstranslate.com/en/chernyi-kot-%D1%87%C3%AB%D1%80%D0%BD%D1%8...

How I came about this song was just by random search. But, I thought this was the origin of your screen name since you were the one that did the English translation. 8)
