Raven
The raven sleeps on rocky cliffs
On a cold winters night
Many things will hurt him
Many things will hurt him
Before the fair day runs out
He pulls the frostbitten nose
from under a big stone
from under a big stone
Ham Ham?
The raven stiffened his tail
Sharpened his beak as well
Flew from the mountain cracks
Flew from the mountain cracks
He looks over the homes and villages
Before they awaken
He flutters his wings
He flutters his wings
Ham Ham
He lays finished on the plain
A well-fed sheep in a garden close by
Once he was faster
Once he was faster
Craw Craw, namesakes come along!
Craw Craw, there is an offer for
a feast on a cold ground
a feast on a cold ground

Thanks a lot!
The "ham ham" is just humming, I don't think it should be translated to anything.
I didn't quite get the line about the "namesakers"?
Great work nonetheless :)
I was aware, just thought it was amusing that they wrote it in the lyrics. But maybe that's just me.
Okay, the namesakes sentence is a very icelandic thing.
If someone has the same name as you, you call them 'nafni/nafna'. So this is basically one raven calling all the other ravens to come along. Because they have the same name and all.
ah, interesting, I didn't know that :)
I am glad I enriched your knowledge!
:)
Did you get my PM btw?
Many thanks for your insight. I have also been enamored with Scandanavia and its history. I really over this song Krummi. Could you suggest any other songs that are similar? The lyrics, beat/tempo/rhythm, instruments used and lyrics are captivating.
Thanks again. Jerry
Thanks a lot for translating this. and I am in love with the meaning.
