Dinda

Darling

How are you, darling?
Long time no see
Feels like it's been two months
This longing in my chest, not a soul knows

Darling, you're far there,
far from these eyes' vision
But in this heart, always here
Keep me company through storms and tribulations

Darling, I'm away for a short while only
This is all for the future you and me

Darling don't be mad-mad (Darling don't be mad)
Afraid that if you do, you'd age fast (would age fast)
I'm a devoted man by nature
Would never put you second or last

Of millions of stars (of millions of stars)
Darling, you shine the brightest (You're the brightest)
Of all and every woman
Darling, you are the fairest

Darling, I'm away for a short while only
This is all for the future of you and me

Darling don't be mad-mad (Darling don't be mad)
Afraid that if you do, you'd age fast (would age fast)
I'm a devoted man by nature
Would never put you second or last

Of millions of stars (of millions of stars)
Darling, you shine the brightest (You're the brightest)
Of all and every woman
Darling, you are the fairest

Darling, don't be mad
Afraid that if you do, you'd age fast
Of millions of stars
Darling, you shine the brightest

Commenti dell’autore:

This song used quite an amount of Malay archaic words, making it poetic which are:
1) Dinda = Term of endearment, like love, baby, honey; In the context of this song, 'Dinda' is the term used by the persona to call his wife, Dinda can also replace 'you'.
2) Kanda = Term of endearment too, but in the first-person use; In the song, the persona refers to himself as 'Kanda', rather than I or me when he talks to his wife
3) Purnama = Moon; Often used to describe time span; eg: month
4) Gundah gulana = Sadness and sorrow, predicaments, etc
5) Gemerlapan = Shining, illuminating, etc
