Alasin
Anvil
Pray to the forger of the sky, to forge the sky to be bright
Beg the weaver of the sky, to weave grey into clear
Glowing velvet from the darkness
To plait yearning to be beautiful
A chain of silver from longing
To strike the light to the black of their hammer
Poor heart in its chest
Anvil
Beats its chains
Anvil
It will never make them break
Anvil
Anvil
Even though it pulls in rage
Anvil
The link will never break
Anvil
It will never make them break
Anvil
Try to plough a field full of vipers, when flesh is weak and steel is ductile
To earn the mark of a male into the chest
By knocking down a hard and heavy female
Try to plough a field full of vipers,
When flesh is weak and steel is ductile
Iron from the ore in the lake bottom,
The male's grave to the bottom of the lake
Poor heart in its chest
Anvil
Beats its chains
Anvil
It will never make them break
Anvil
Anvil
Even though it pulls in rage
Anvil
The link will never break
Anvil
It will never make them break

This song may have some references to Kalevala, like "kyinen pelto". The "field full of vipers" is part of a story that tells about Seppo Ilmarinen who is a blacksmith and made the sky, for example.

Thanks Fary :)
You're welcome.
Only now I've noticed that you have plenty more translations of Ruoska, which makes you the second (or first, depends on how you look at it :)) Fin here to have a lot of Ruoska's stuff under them. Is this band really famous in Finland or something? or do you just like them?
Well the only reason why I have done a lot of translations of their songs is that some people have requested them - I don't know how famous Ruoska is in Finland, at least I haven't heard much of them. But it seems that they have some international fans too :). I don't really listen to their music (even though I almost always listen the songs I translate) but they have interesting lyrics so it's also fun to translate something "different" every once in a while.
Ah I see :) what type of music do you listen to then? I hope you upload some of it and not just help others with their requests ;) and why don't you listen to these songs by Ruoska? are they that horrid :)
Ruoska kind of reminds me of Rammstein, so I can see them having some international audience. I'm not a big fan of either of them really, but both have some nice songs.
Haha they're not that horrid, I can listen to them while doing translations ;). I'm just not a big fan of that kind of music, I guess I usually listen to more "lighter" music. But it really depends, as long as I find some song nice to listen to I do so :P.
