1. The actual German is slightly off and translates literally to "Shots rip the air".
2. A strange expression that does not sound very German at all. Literally "And shame fell on its side" or "on their side", depending on interpretation. A better figurative German would be "Und Scham kam über sie" or "Und Scham befiel sie" (I think the latter inspired the actual lyrics).
