Hace algún tiempo, Evfokas tradujo "La Campanera" en la version de Juan Legido (algo difrente) y yo hice comentarios en su traducción.
Este original tiene errors, y quiero editarlo pero, antes, voy a escuchar a Joselito una vez más porque creo que dice "por qué ha pintao SUS ojeras... (no orejas)/ por que SE HA puesto de seda...".
Dime qué te parece.
la letra que aparecía acá tenía muchos errores y tomé como referencia una versión parecida a la que cantaba Diana Navarro

Pasiblemente Garcia Pena (Peña?) tiene razón pero yo todavía oigo a Joselito decir 'sus ojeras' y "se ha puesto'.
En cuanto a 'cera/seda' es difícil decir, debido a su pronunciaciíon.

Tu úlltima versión tiene sentido, pero hay algunos errores. Déjame decirte:
1. Primera estrofa - "Why did painted" --> "why did paint". "Why did she became" --> "why did she become".
"Why it could be". Me parece que es mejor, "how could it be".
"They want to compare you...". No. 'They think she is bad' and, actually, she could be compare to a white lily: pure.
2. Tercera estrofa - Yo diría, "Why do people stop, just by seeing her pass by", (Mayúscula en el verso siguiente).
3. En la última estrofa, faltan los tres versos del refran.
