Berlin
Berlin
Zoo Station, my train rolls in
I get off, good to be here again
Past alcohol and down to the U-Bahn
Towards Kreuzberg, the journey is clear
Kottbuser Tor, I jump off the train
Two inspectors suspect a scam
Up the escalators at breakneck speed
Two Turks hold the officials up
Oranienstraße, here lives the Quran
Behind that, the wall's going up
Mariannenplatz is notoriously red
I feel good, I'm into Berlin!
I feel good! (We're into Berlin)
I feel good! (We're into Berlin)
Grey houses, a junkie in a trance
It smells like olives and marjoram
Past the ruins to the canal
Behind that, the office of the party
Dog mess on the pavement
I'm drinking coffee at sunrise
Later on in the old factory,
The one with the East-West outlook
Second floor, fourth courtyard
Next to me lives a philosopher
Windows open, I hear Turkish melodies
I feel good, I'm into Berlin!
I feel good, we're into Berlin!
I feel good!
I feel good! (We're into Berlin)
We feel good! (I'm into Berlin)
11 at night at Kurfürstendamm
That's time for the tourists' cultural programme
Expensive tat from the market stand
I'm eating pizza out of my hand
A taxi's going to Romy Haag
A glass of champagne is 150 Marks
For the West Germans, who waste their money on drink
Let's see what's on at the cinema
Music is hot, the neon lights flash
Somebody's bought me a gin
The dance floor is boiling, here's the place to be
I feel good, I'm into Berlin!
I feel good! (We're into Berlin)
I feel good! (We're into Berlin)
Berlin, Berlin, Berlin...
Berlin, Berlin, Berlin...
I feel good! (We're into Berlin)
I feel good! (We're into Berlin)

Give a shoutout to Doch-BW

I would translate "Ich steh auf Berlin" -> I dig Berlin
>"A glass of champagne is 150 Marks" should be: A bottle of champagne is 150 Marks
(they weren't overdoing it ... ;) )
>"Mal sehn, was im Dschungel läuft,"
"Der Dschungel war vom 15. Oktober 1978 bis zum 31. Mai 1993 ein Tanzclub mit Cocktailbar in Berlin-Schöneberg."
(Wikipedia)
>"... hier trifft sich die Scene,"
means: that's the place where the in-people meet
referrs to the social circle the narrator belongs, in this case probably punks, activists, characters, would be artists etc.
for english people: Mariannenplatz is notoriously "red" --> painted or socialist/communist? I think is meant politically and I am not sure if english people is aware of.
"11 at night" : more common should be: 11 p.m.
There is another good translation:
