It’s interesting when I read these translations-there are two different ones from Spanish to English-and I find that I don’t agree with either of them! But, I’m not meaning to criticize-and I’m not saying that I could do it better, I’m just saying that there is nothing like reading or listening to something in the language in which it was created. And, I think that Saúl’s lyrics present even more of a challenge-they are so metaphorical and dense-difficult to penetrate, at least for a gringa like me who speaks Spanish very well, but will never be a native speaker. I do appreciate those of you who are willing to give it a try.
