Current Basque Artists

A collection of the principal Basque music artists nowadays. Basque Country is a territory spanning the western end of the Pyrenees, covering the north of Spain (Bizkaia, Araba, Gipuzkoa, and Nafarroa) and part of France. Due to its mountainous landscape, the Basque people have historically been isolated, allowing for the preservation of the Basque language (a pre-Indo-European language) and own identity.

After the 80s, the Basque identity was reinforced after years of censorship and prohibition due to the Franco's dictatorship. Nowadays the Basque language is official in Autonomous Community of Euskadi and it is spoken by approximately 900,000 people.
