The word "noian" sadly has no direct equivalent in English. It means something along the lines of an "ominously large amount" in this context. It used to mean "ocean" in older forms of speech, but I haven't ever heard anyone use it as such. I find the German translation Lagenscheidt dictionary offers quite fitting for this song; ”Unmenge”, literally ”non-amount” or ”un-amount”.
