Waterfall

Down there, at the foot of the waterfall where light is mixed with water

Where dusk rises like a cloud as light as mist

Where in sunshine water resembles honey

My eye has seen a water-nymph swimming

Her light foot doesn´t touch the water surface

When she rises from the fall´s wave onto her rock

And necklace around her neck has no price at all

It/she follows in the dance of waves from one row to another1

Then towards (evening´s red) twilight, the silhouette of the forest fades in

I notice that it gets lively on greenish waters

And the chain falling into water echos magnificently

A hand beckons (from) there, it´s not an illusion

(I) don´t know for sure whether it is water or the heaven

When I fly from the bank into the arms of the waterfall

And I wake up in a tiny ship

Where there is room only for the two of us
