Tilbakefall

I know this was posted a very, very long time ago, but I just recently discovered this song and wanted to submit a few ideas for translation that I believe may be better suited.

“Skulle ikke skje igjen
Jeg skulle ikke savne deg”

I would translate these line to “Shouldn’t happen again. I shouldn’t miss you” or “Shouldn’t be happening again. I shouldn’t be missing you.”

“Se jeg har kommet meg videre dit hvor jeg skal”

I don’t think these are the right lyrics in Norwegian. I think she says “Se jeg har kommet meg videre, vet hva jeg skal.” The right Norwegian lyrics would translate to “See, I have moved on. I know what I’m going to do.”

“I på toget foran tingsnur”

I don’t think this is the right Norwegian lyrics, either. I think she’s saying “blir på toget for om ting snur.” I would translate the right lyrics to “get on the train to make things change.”

“Ikke mere deg”

I would translate this to “No more you.” I think it matches better with the previous sentence: den gangen da jeg lovte ikke mere deg / that time I promised no more you.

I would also translate tilbakefall to “relapse” instead of regression. The theme of the song is her still being in love with someone she knows she she shouldn’t be. I think relapse translates the symbolism of going back to something that’s bad for you better than regression.
