"Quitte ta peau de miser" can also mean "Leave your skin of misery".
When translating songs, I try to leave the words as close to the original French, even if they sound a little strange to English speakers. The poetic aesthetics of French can be lost when sentences have to be rearranged to fit the English pallet.

Wonderful translation, the best I've seen. It respects the need for accuracy and honors the poetry of the lyrics as well.
