ジキルがハイド俺がお前を Trace
飲み込まれないようにレース制すべく制す
アイデンティティが唯一我を保つプロセス
なら記憶の奥の方までたどるメス
Who am I?
Feel like a jackpot

Character
Jekyll and Hyde trace you and me
They control the race so that you don't see
Your controlled identity leaves only me
As the scalpel processes through your memory
Who am I? A control number in your mind
The home of the day is the sun sinking behind
Little by little it fades into a shadow
The inside of the lie has become known
In the back, a demon is hiding. I wonder what pain its concealing1
This scarlet doesn't connect for me2
I'll make these lips my own
Good, it's telling that I like this, my values are blurred
Within the space between kindness and madness
I can't see the bottom, it's buried in darkness3
I escape your kiss, this lukewarm eternity is frightening4
Mother would surely delight, this warm space has no "Hi" in sight5
This duty to kindness, inside you exists6
Around it's dangerous if I'm honest, I want to be serious
Excellently hiding, through the bloody gloom I'm traveling
Even if I crash and burn, I pray and vainly struggle on
The noisy crowds from Tokyo take flight7
From here, the lost vanish from sight
The ashes change and become you
Tomorrow a profile is left here anew
Tip my hat to God "nice to meet you" I shout
Two names on a passport fly about
Right on the mark, feel like a jackpot
A junction marks the crossing of our fates
1894, the god of death dances a hidden waltz with the world as a guinea pig, salt in its hands8
An unseen ghost, its repentance lost9
Now, no touch or waver can it give
Today's feelings always within it live
I end your kiss, this lukewarm eternity is frightening10
Mother would surely delight, the compassion of time has all calmly taken flight11
This duty to kindness, inside you exists6
Around it's dangerous if I'm honest, I want to be serious
Excellently hiding, through the bloody gloom I'm traveling
Even if I crash and burn, I pray and vainly struggle on
I want to feel something raw
Everyone grows up from nothing
Nothing strange is hidden inside
I know my innermost thoughts and yet
Still my hand quakes at where I'm going
I turn around, its copying my actions, its imitating15
Not knowing where I am, I search for love.
Parent and child and couple tell no lies but16
I run between them and they let out nothing
The sweaty summer, my life restoring
I'm home
This duty to kindness, inside you exists6
Around it's dangerous if I'm honest, I want to be serious
Excellently hiding, through the bloody gloom I'm traveling
Even if I crash and burn, I pray and vainly struggle on
- 1. The original Japanese partially rhymes the two phrases in this line (the "ma" and "ka" sounds). I tried to replicate this by ending the translated phrases with the "ing" sound. I'm not totally satisfied with this and might edit it later.
- 2. The word 朱 (scarlet) either refers to the lips in the following line or is a metaphor for the pain mentioned in the line above. IMO the original Japanese is ambiguous.
- 3. This line and the one above partially rhyme the "ru" and "ku" sound in the original Japanese. I partially rhymed the "ness" sound to approximate.
- 4. The singer changes to Acane here and accordingly, the "you" and "I" being sung about also switch.
- 5. The original Japanese rhymes the two phrases in this line which I preserved.
- 6. a. b. c. This stanza has partial rhyming inside each line which I preserved.
- 7. The first singer takes over again here and "you" and "I" swap back.
- 8. I'm not completely sure that I translated this line correctly.
- 9. That is, the thing it must do in order to leave this world.
- 10. Acane starts singing again here.
- 11. I took some liberties in translating this line to preserve rhyming.
- 12. The use of "ego" here is a pretty literal translation and refers to ego in the psychological sense of one's conscious self, not ego in the colloquial sense of inflated self-worth.
- 13. The singers swap multiple times during this stanza.
- 14. This stanza mostly doesn't rhyme in the original Japanese.
- 15. The subject is ambiguous here, but IMO it's the singer's shadow.
- 16. Acane sings alone here for the rest of the song.

Some of the original Japanese lines rhyme which I have preserved in my translation. I didn't always rhyme the same syllables, however. Any non-rhyming couplets did not rhyme in the original text.
Character's meter can be pretty complex. I tried to make my translation's meter stand out in places where the original Japanese does, but I'm still a pretty new translator so it's far from perfect. I hope to edit and clean this up later once I've gained more experience. Much of the song consists of what's basically blank verse which I did not change in translation.

This translation is my own, although Katsuro helps a lot with editing and improving my translations. I'm OK with reposting, but please attribute the translation to Subeki Subtitles and link to my original translation here.
I feel that my Japanese is good enough that my translations are good reproductions of the original, but they may not be perfect. I'm always learning and improving so at some point, I may go back to this translation to make it better. If you see anything that should be fixed, please let me know! 頑張ります!
