Nýr

Sat þar á haugi ok sló hǫrpu,
Forseti, glaðr hirðir.
Jǫrð iðjagræna, jǫrður nýr, nýr fagrahvél.

Sat þar á haugi ok sló hǫrpu,
Bragi, glaðr hirðir.
Jǫrð iðjagræna, jǫrður nýr, nýr fagrahvél.

Minnask þar á medindóma,
ok á Fimbultýs fornar rúnir.
Minnask þar á medindóma,
jörður nýr.

Munu akrar vaxa, böls mun alls batna,
þar skulu dyggvar dróttir byggja,
ok um aldrdaga ynðis njóta.

Sat þar á haugi ok sló hǫrpu,
Forseti, glaðr hirðir.
Jǫrð iðjagræna, jǫrður nýr, nýr fagrahvél.

Minnask þar á medindóma,
ok á Fimbultýs fornar rúnir.
Minnask þar á medindóma,
jǫrður nýr.

Sat þar á haugi ok sló hǫrpu,
Forseti, glaðr hirðir.
Nýr fagrahvél.

Ok silfri þakðr it sama.
En þar, Forseti byggvir flestan dag
ok svæfir sakar.

En þar Forseti byggir flestan dag
ok svæfir sakar.

New

On a hill there sat and played on his harp,
Forseti, the glad shepherd.

Evergreen earth,
the earth anew,
new wheel turn.

On a hill there sat and played on his harp,
Bragi, the glad shepherd.

Evergreen earth,
the earth anew,
new wheel turn.

The mighty past they call to mind,
and the ancient runes of the Ruler of Gods.
The mighty past they call to mind,
the earth anew.

Then fields unsowed,
all ills grow better,
there shall the righteous rulers dwell,
and happiness ever there shall they have.

On a hill there sat and played on his harp,
Forseti, the glad shepherd.

Evergreen earth,
the earth anew,
new wheel turn.

The mighty past they call to mind,
and the ancient runes of the Ruler of Gods.
The mighty past they call to mind,
the earth anew.

On a hill there sat and played on his harp,
Forseti, the glad shepherd.

New wheel turn.

Comentariile autorului:

Most of the lyrics come from Völuspa. I took some translations from voluspa.org.

I had troubles with translating the word "fagrahvél", literally the fair-wheel. I decided to translate the sentence "Nýr fagrahvél" as "New wheel turn". Correct me if I'm wrong or you have a better idea!

Forseti is the norse god of judgement and Bragi is the god of poetry and music.

The whole lyrics are rather filled with joy about new eath arising.
