1. Not to be confused with "Hel" (though this song might use it as that, I'm not sure). Niflheim was one of two primordial realms, Niflheim made of ice and cold, its opposite being Muspelheim, the realm of fire. Between these two realms of cold and heat, creation began.
2. An old Norse version of a bard.
3. Odin's horse in Norse mythology.
4. In Norse mythology, those who have died in battle and are brought to Valhalla by valkyries. They eat and drink all night and train all day for the Ragnarök; i.e., the end of the world.
5. I think there's a typo here, an "l" missing in "Schildwall".
