Sciare
Skiing
When I was a child I used to go skiing
Every Wednesday afternoon
It was three bitterly cold hours, the snow biting my cheeks
Surrounded by the children of entrepreneurs** that evaded taxes but leave tips
When I was a child I used to go skiing
but to tell you the truth I skied horribly
The mountains aren't your mom, and people like me don't care
and goes without saying that I slipped and fell a lot
Just like a moth
that never looks up
during the night of a full moon
I used to look up but my lights were neon blue
And if I fell again
I was happy to die
or to die there... I don't know
Does it really make a difference?
When I was a child I used to go skiing
And i often felt other people starting at me
sometimes the children of entrepreneurs took me aside
They would always tell me "You're tall, and this sport isn't for you, go and play basketball"
When I was a child I used to go skiing
but here i am in front of you know, and you don't want me
and I pretend it's nothing, you probably do well too
Myself, with someone that wants to be my partner, but we could never be together
Just like a moth
that never looks up
during the night of a full moon
I used to look up but my lights were neon blue
And if I fell again
I was happy to die
or to die there... I don't know
Does it really make a difference?
And those same kids of entrepreneurs
they looked for a way to alleviate their melancholy
hungry, impatient, looking Klondikes gold*
while trying to understand what alchemy is
They said "there are more fish in the sea"*** They say what you want it to be
They said "there are more fish in the sea"***, you see, you'll never be alone
They said "there are more fish in the sea"*** They say what you want it to be
They said "there are more fish in the sea"***, and he responds
"yeah, but you can ski in the sea"

Commenti dell’autore:
*Klondikes gold: refers to the (klondike/yukon) gold rush, where everyone ran off to to Canada's yukon region hoping to get rich quick. So this is basically saying these kids wanted the same, they wanted something good in a hurry with little work. This is reinforced by the next line about trying alchemy
**entrepreneurs: literal translation, but I think the idea is more spoiled rich kids that feel entitled because their parents are rich/successful
***"there are more fish in the sea": literally-the sea is full of fish, I think this is just saying there are more opportunities out there as they continue to search for happiness and an escape from their melancholy lives
