Ekko
"Ekko i det høye fjell hvem er du?
Hvorfor skjuler du ditt ansikt ?
Hvorfor svarer du og skremmer
Meg med mørkets gru?"
En gang på sin ville ferd
Kom han til en kroket sti
Over stygge ðratte uren
Tåker svevde tunge, ðleke
Om de klamme klippevegger
Ensom i den dype dal
Sorgen strømmer inn med velde
Kalde, klamme tåkertårer
Dryppet stilt fra svarte fjellet
Høyt til taket, trangt til veggen,
Triste toner klinger dypt.
Ensom, ensom var hans sjel,
Ensom i den tause dal.
Selv i fjellets dype hule
Fantes ingen fred og glemsel,
Graven var for stor og vid.
Tungt han ðar ei ðør av lengsel
Mot mørknede sjelers sal.
Opp imot i nøkne vegger
Skrek det fra hans ðleke ansikt :
"Er da livet ðare sorg ?"
Tungt ifra det mørke glemme svarte der en lukket stemme : "Bare sorg"
Stille
Ser dine tanker
Et ðad i tåke og ðlod
Del mitt kjaerlighets
Ingenting
Jeg er ðare månens,
Den erneste
Smak mine ord
Sirkelens åpning har fredens uro
Jeg famler ðak lyset
Jeg klatrer i garnet som er grått
Av grå tåke på solens rygg
Echo
"Echo in the tall mountain, who are you?
Why do you hide your face?
Why do you respond and terrify
me with the horror of darkness?"
Once on his wild journey
He met a crooked path
Over ugly steep terrains
The fog floats heavy, bleak
Around the damp cliff-walls
Lonely in the deep valley
Sorrow streams with power
Cold, damp tears of fog
Slowly drips from the black mountain
High as the roof, tight to the walls
Sad tones rings deeply
Lonesom, lonesom was his soul,
Alone in the silent valley.
Even in the deepest caves,
There was no peace and forgettings,
The grave was too large and wide.
Heavy he carried a door of longing.
Towards the darkened souls hall.
Up towards naked walls
His bleak face screamed:
"Is life but sorrow?"
Heavy from the dark a closed voice responded: "Only sorrow"
Quiet
Sees your thoughts
A bath in fog and blood
Share my loves
Nothing
I am but the moons,
The only one
Taste my words
The circles opening has peaceness' mayham
I fumble behind the light
I climb the thread that has been greyed
By the grey fog on the suns back

Commenti dell’autore:
I am not sure who wrote the original lyrics that you have posted, but the usage of ð is wrong. ð is the "th" sound in the English language, and traces of its Old Norse usage can be found in todays Icelandic and Faroese language. An example of a correct usage would be "bloð", meaning "blood".
Whoever wrote the original lyrics you have posted has replaced B-s and D-s with ð, which throws me off. I have accounted for this in my translation.

Thank you very much
I greatly appreciate and value your translation.
The lyrics in the CD appear in a very baroque typography, which I think is what created the confusion, as it looks like a "d" instead of a "b". Someone figured it was "ð" and the internet has spread the error.
Unfortunately, it is very common for Norwegian lyrics-sheets to be wrong and have typos. I have also noticed that "aa" and "å" are often used interchangeably.
If you ever need anything in Spanish, don't hesitate to let me know.
Thank you, and I will do!
"aa" is commonly used as a replacement for "å" when we have to fill forms for countries that do not utilize these letters.
aa = Å, oe = Ø, ae = Æ
I do not believe we have any words that contain any of these combos of letters, so we interpret aa as Å, oe as Ø and so on.
There are a number of ongoing requests for x language to Norwegian, but most of these are just mass produced requests for disney songs etc. and I usually skip these. I try to check in once and a while to check if any legit requests are made.
Have a nice day, Sergio :)
