Alban Skenderaj is from Albania whereas Lyrical Son is from Kosovo. The song is about the year 1993 in both countries which were going through turmoil due to the fall of communism in Albania and ethnic tensions in Yugoslavia which Kosovo was part of.
*Lek - Albanian currency (ALL)
*ITALIA UNO - During the communist era of Albania, people used to secretly watch RAI (Italian Public Television) with makeshift antennas because state-run TV in Albania was heavily censored during that time. Today a considerable numer of Albanians still watch Italian TV and speak Italian.
*President - Brand of cigarettes
*I got the power! - Lyrics from Snap's famous song.
*TVSH SAT - TVSH stands for Televizioni Shqiptar (Albanian Television). In Kosovo, Yugoslavia, Albanian-language newspapers, radios and the Albanian TV Prishtina stopped boradcasting/publishing due to Yugoslav governments measures against growing calls for Albanian separatism in the 90s as part of the wider ethnic tensions happening in Yugoslavia at that time. As a response, a lot of people set up satellite TVs to be able to watch the Albanian state-run television TVSH because they did not trust the state-run Radio and Television of Serbia - TV Belgrade.
*Ora Policore - Curfew is literally translated as "Police Hour" in Albanian. It symbolizes the repressive measures undertaken by the Yugoslav government after the unilateral declaration of independence of Kosovo in 1990 which was an autonomous province of SR Serbia until its autonomy was revoked in 1989.
