Translation

Eu Te Devoro

I'll devour you

Your signs make me confused
From head to toes
And I think:
"I'll devour you"

The way you look at me doesn't make it clear
Who you are
It doesn't matter,
I'll devour you

I would devour you
For any price

Because of these "I ignore you"
And "I know you"
No matter whether it rains
Or it's cold outside.

In another world
I would devour you
Like Caetano devours
Lenoardo DiCaprio

It's a miracle
Everything God created
Thinking on you
He made the Milky Way
He made the Dinosaurs
When he had nothing in mind
He made my life
And gave to you

[I'm] not counting the days
What kills me
[I have] no notice from you
[I'm] abandoned and lonely

But if it matters to you
If I want to get a live
No, thanks!

R E P E A T

What I want is to go on living
To wait, to wait
To devour you... (2x)
Go on living, living,
To wait for you
I want to live
To wait for you
I want to wait for you...

Author's comments:

It is relevant to notice that Caetano Veloso actually said "I would devour Leonardo DiCaprio" in a TV interview and that this song makes reference to this event, which was largely misunderstood by people who read his sentence out of context. Caetano Veloso was telling who he thought was the most beautiful Hollywood star and expressed his choice with a hyperbolic expression, referred to in this song.

This means we cannot understand that both Caetano Veloso and Leonardo DiCaprio would devour the addressee of the song as other translations may suggest. What happens here is that the singer makes a comparison between his desire of devouring the addressee and Caetano's desire of devouring Leonardo DiCaprio: something that is purely hypothetical and to be understood as a compliment.

Hi Daniel, thank you very much for your translation, I confess that Di Capprio thing was never clear to me, and now I see that tricky preposition to the verb querer. That was really silly to not grasp my own mother language. 5 Stars translation :)
