Salvador

Savior

You just hafta look at the door
The window is wide open
The stars in the planetarium have looked again to me
Like when I was small

We meet up on that street
I think of you all year long
I remember that time you said that you had brown skin
And that's why you could do whatever it was you wanted

Savior, you're savior1
You little sleepy-eyed one, I want to hold you, want to dote on you
Savior, you're savior
Nobody can hurt you, when you're dreaming, when you're singing
Because you, are your savior2

You wake up so suddenly
In your mind straws are flying
If you died, you'd be reborn
Into the body of any other animal
Wherever you want

Savior, you're savior
You little sleepy-eyed one, I want to hold you, want to dote on you
Savior, you're savior
Nobody can hurt you, when you're dreaming, when you're singing
Because you...

We'll drink a little tea, and I'll go butter up some bread just for you
I like to watch you while you're eating
So very eagerly
I want you to have everything
Savior, you little sleepy-eyed one

Savior, you're savior
You little sleepy-eyed one, I want to hold you, want to dote on you
Savior, you're savior
Nobody can hurt you, when you're dreaming, when you're singing
Savior, you're savior
You little sleepy-eyed one, I want to hold you, want to dote on you
Savior, you're savior
Nobody can hurt you, when you're dreaming, when you're singing
Because you...

  • 1. The spanish word "Salvador" translates to and means "savior", but can also be a proper male name. At the beginning of each chorus, Mon sings "eres Salvador" or "you are Savior", not "eres UN salvador" or "you are A savior". This would mean that the song is about her finding symbolic meaning in the name of a person already named "Salvador".
  • 2. This part is easy to miss in both translation and transcription, but here, I believe Mon is most likely saying "Porque tú, eres tu salvador", with no accent on the second "tu", and not "Porque tú, eres tú salvador", with an accent on the second "tú". The difference is that instead of the latter meaning "because you, are you, Salvador", merely confirming his identity, with the former she means "because you, are your (own) savior" revealing the significance of his name as it relates to his self-achieved individuality
