Vēl caur zemes zobiem zila masa plūst,
Zeme, sakodusi zobus, lēni žūst.
Cauri koku saknēm triektajām uz vidu,
Cauri akmens slānim jauna upe plūst.
Smagi sagrūst vēju celtās smilšu sētas,
Koku galotnes kā ūdens zāles plūst.
Upe sagrauj visu, kas ir jaunam ceļā,
Jūru meklēt zilā upe plūst.
Izkūst atmiņas par aizgājušo ledu,
Nāves deju dejo sniegavīrs.
Upe skalo savu jauno ceļu,
Visu vāju aizraujot sev līdz.
The River
Another blue mass flows through the teeth of the ground,
Having bitten its teeth together, the ground slowly dries.
Through the roots of trees struck in the middle,
Through layers of stone the new river flows.
It arduously pushes through fields of sand carried there by the wind,
Treetops, mountains and grass break.
The river knocks down everything which is in its new way,
The blue river flows, searching for the sea.
Memories of long gone ice melt,
A snowman dances the dance of death.
The river sweeps its new path,
Drawing everything else towards itself.
