In Flanders Fields
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

Translating this song inspired me to seek out this poem, one of the most famous in English literature. It seemed appropriate. It must be one of the most famous poems since I'm not into poetry too much, yet I know this poem. I took the words from here. I suppose it would have been even more appropriate if I had received the inspiration to post this on November 11. But I only just now translated that song.
.
To all those who made it possible for an old fart to while away the hours in front of his computer translating songs . . . for fun.
