Higher

We drown out all our thoughts
And just let the words take over
We keep our masks on,
And pretend to be someone’s best man

They’re just dragging me down,
All the way down
But I have common sense
And a heart filled with air

They can’t stand to see
Who I really am
I just get used
But I still managed to vanish

I feel lighter

And now I’m flying
Higher than ever before
Before, before
Yes, now I’m flying
Higher than ever before
Before, before
Don’t try to tear me down
By letting them get closer

Up here we’re naked
And everything we feel, we feel it better
We skipped over all the small talk
We’ve quit hesitating and you make me older

They’re just dragging me down,
All the way down
But I have common sense
And a heart filled with air

They can’t stand to see
Who I really am
I just get used
But I still managed to vanish

I feel lighter

And now I’m flying
Higher than ever before
Before, before
Yes, now I’m flying
Higher than ever before
Before, before
Don’t try to tear me down
By letting them get closer

And now I’m flying
Higher than ever before
Before, before
Yes. Now I’m flying
Higher than ever before, before
Don’t try to tear me down
By letting them get closer

I had to have a peek at your profile, impressive that a non-native speaker tackles dialects and handles it this well :)

"Forlover" is "best man"

"Brukt" can be simply used, just as in English, it can be to use an object, or to take advantage of a person.

"tar på (...)" is "put on" rather than "keep on", but I suppose from the context of the song it might mean either :)

Hello! I’m so sorry, I haven’t been active in a long time. I’ve fixed these mistakes.

And thank you so much!! I’ve been learning Swedish for 15 years and so standard Norwegian usually isn’t an issue for me. However, the dialects can be a little bit challenging at times. I don’t think this one was too bad, though. I’ve encountered some dialects that were much more difficult for me.
