1. I'm not totally sure that I translated this line correctly
2. From here, lines will strongly contrast between despair and hope. I read this as the singer's conflicting doubt and perseverance.

The official video for Surges depicts students striving hard in sports, only to have their hopes for success dashed by the spread of COVID-19. Nevertheless, they continue pressing on through the difficulties of the pandemic. This closely matches the song's lyrics about determination surpassing doubt. I recommend you watch it. It's very heartwarming! :)
