How well do you know Japanese. I'm still learning myself but the English translation of ヒカリ is not Hikari. Transliteration and translation are different things
Being written in Katakana might be the reason he left it as it is. It simply means light, though.
I prefer using transliteration in ヒカリ and usually the Japanese it's cost me so I rely on dictionaries or translators from time to time and usually when I do a translation first I translate it into Spanish and then translate from Spanish into English
I'm not sure if I got your comment right but ヒカリ here obviously means light and nothing else. Whether it spells in a less common form, which also happens to other Japanese songs, doesn't change the definition to the very word. This means you don't have to leave it untranslated like you should accord it to the original text.
