D'ogni sapore, coscia magra o forte

E in gola mi batteva forte i' core
Temevo di finire a qui' paese

"Gummoninghe" alla fine dissi piano
E lei la mi squadrò dall'alto in basso
"Do you speak inglisce?" le urlai di lontano
Perché l'avéa di già affettato i' passo

"Bonjour", gridai, "vous parlez-vous français?"
Si voltò appena, mi scivolò un'occhiata
Io mi rimescolai da capo a piè
Tremavo come un vecchio canapè

Vengo a trovarla stasera, già allenato

Mi vengono a cercare dall'Olanda
Soddisfo tutti, e sono un travestito"

E via s'incamminò, stendendo l'anca
Mentre io rimuginavo tutto cionco:
È meglio limitassi a fa' pippì."

Wanda

When I bumped into her, she was wearing a miniskirt
A stratospheric one, with outrageus legs
Blonde hair, eyes like the Virgin Mary
The view of a holiday resort
Promising adventures

I'm a macho, I've seduced many women
Of every flavour, skinny and curvy
But that morning I was a bit hesitant
My hands were trembling, if you know what I mean 1

I wanted to approach her, but I was worried
Everything I could came up with was too obscene
And I could feel my heart beating in my throat
I was worried she could buzz me off

"Goommonninghay" 2 I softly said at last
And she sized me up
"Do you speak Englishay?" I shouted at her
Because she had already hastened

"Bonjour", I shouted, "vous parlez-vous français?"
She slightly turned around, and I could take a better look at her
I could feel my blood boil, head to bottom
I was trembling like an old camp bed

I'm a macho, I've seduced many women
I know the kamasutra and I've read Sade
It only takes a glance, promising and keen
And the ladies fall down, as striken down by a sword

"Sprechen Sie Doytschay?", I tried with German
But she didn't understand, as if she was deaf
She was a foreigner, she looked like a peach flower
Came from who knows where

That miniskirt, those hips, she was shaking it
That face, that hair, those eyes
Walking down the street, everybody jumped [to turn around and see]
I felt like I had an eel in my pants

I reached her over there, on the Ponte Vecchio 3
And softly whispered to her ears:
"Ik leebe dischay, je t'aymeh, I lov yoo"
It's sink or swim, I couldn't resist any longer

I'm a macho and she smiled at me
Her beautiful mouth gleamed in the sunshine
With those lips - so red! - she killed me
And I flooded her with a river of words

"Please, where is your hotel, tell me
I'll come to visit this evening, already on fire
I'll sing a love song to you
I am a refined latin lover"

"You funny guy, everybody call me Wanda
But my actual name is Peter Titus
They come for me all the way from Holland
I satisfy everybody, and I'm a transvestite"

And there she went, wiggling her hips
And I was left sad, mulling over
"If today all the Wandas are like this
It's better if I use it just for peeing."

  • 1. lit. "I had dead hands, if you know what I mean". "Dead hand" ("mano morta") is used to refer to a sexual abuse, i.e. when somebody is in a crowded place and takes advantage of it touching a woman (especially on the butt). What the singer is saying here is that he was nervous and his hands were cold, as a dead man's.
  • 2. the singer here pronounces some words in English, French and German, with the typical Florentine accent.
