many things but fortunately I brought you

cinema-tickets too, sadly I didn't remember

to be present on that Friday.

When I was wobbling around, groggy from happiness2

I was dreaming about you with my eyes open.

But you, during the movie, alone

left and had to hide your eyes.

There is somewhere someone for anyone3

whether we like it or not.

Any dummy will realise some day

that there will/must be a day

when love will be enough for us4.

Although there isn't that former gentleness in the tongue5,

we remember love very well now.

I heap for you tulips and roses

They only make you neurotic.

All the positions have been tried already, long time ago,

amid cyclamens and musical boxes.

Will we even be together in a year's time?

And what does this thing called love even consist of?

Fate is throwing carnations onto our rails6.

Soon another7 (theatrical) act begins

Any dummy will realise some day

that there will/must be a day

when we will have had enough of love1.

And if even that doesn't do the trick,

then maybe there dawns a day

when love puts us into our ["rightful"] place.

Someone (someone Estonian) once mentioned to me that carnations are funeral flowers to her because that's when she usually sees them. It could mean whatever.
